  1. A detective and the blacksmith brothers.
    On a snowy winter night, a detective was resting in front of the fireplace. Suddenly, somebody threw a snowball at his window. The hit was so strong that the glass shattered. The detective had just enough time to notice three kids in the neighbourhood running away. They were brothers with the names: sam blacksmith, peter blacksmith and mark blacksmith. The next day, a paper notice was left under the detective’s door. There it was written “? Blacksmith. He threw the snowball”. The detective knew immediately which brother it was. How did he?

Answer: the symbol (?) reads as question Mark. So putting it into perspective, it means the detective should question Mark Blacksmith, he threw the snowball.

  1. Hotel room.
    A woman was staying in her hotel room when somebody knocked on the door. When she opened, she saw an unknown man. The man looked surprised and he said, “I apologize, I thought it was my room”. He then turned away. The woman however returned to the room and dialed security. Why was she so suspicious and didn’t believe the man?

Answer: The woman logically decided that if the man had known that the room was his, he wouldn’t have knocked then. Therefore he was a criminal hoping to steal from the room. That is what they do, they knock on the door to make sure nobody is inside.

  1. Suicide or murder.
    A detective comes to a crime scene where a man is said to have jumped out of a window and committed suicide. The detective goes into the building, goes to a window that faces the man, opens it and then throws a stone through it. He repeats this action in all the floors of the building. He outright concluded that it was a murder case and not a suicide. How did he find out? The answer is right in the riddle.

Answer: When a person commits suicide jumping from a high floor, they don’t tend to close the window behind them. Here is the case all the windows which faced the man were closed, which means it was someone who threw him through the window and closed it afterwards.

  1. Ice tea
    Two young ladies were having diner together. They both ordered for ice tea. One of them was very hungry and drank hers very quickly. The other drank hers very slowly that she didn’t even finish it. Tragically, the girl who was nursing her drink and drinking slowly and didn’t even finish it died. The other stayed alive. But it turned out that all the drinks they had been served contained poison. How is it that the girl who drank more survived?

Answer: In fact, the poison was contained in the ice. The ice in the tea of the girl who drank fast didn’t melt fast to release the poison. But the ice in the tea of the girl who drank slowly had time to melt and hence releasing the poison into the tea.

  1. Mysterious death in the car
    A man was found shot dead in his car. The policemen were puzzled, because there was no gun powder in his clothes or anywhere else in the car. This meant the person who shot him was outside. But all the windows and doors were closed. And the only bullet hole was on the man’s body. How was it possible?

Answer: The car where the man was shot was a convertible. When the fatal shot sounded, the roof was down.

  1. Flying coffee
    A women was having breakfast at a restaurant. At one moment, she noticed a fly in her coffee. She was indignant, and made the waiter bring her another cup of the drink. After the new cup of coffee was brought, she shouted, “what is the service in thisplace? You have brought me the same cup of coffee”. How did she undetstand it? Perhaps the woman was a psychic?

Answer: She had already put sugar in her cup of coffee. When she tried the new one, it was sweet.

  1. In court for killing wife.
    A man is accused of killing his wife. His lawyer in his final statement, declared that the wife of the man hasn’t been killed, and will enter the courtroom in a minute. Everybody in the room, including the judge and the jury, turns to look at the door, and the lawyer with the defendant looks at them. Several minutes passed and the lawyer says: it proves that you are not so sure that my client killed his wife, otherwise you wouldn’t believe me. Almost immediately after that, the jury comes out with a guilty verdict. Why did the jury do that?

Answer: The man who had been accused wasn’t looking at the door. He was sure his wife wouldn’t enter as he had killed her.

  1. A case of a smuggler.
    A man carrying two bags of sand on his bicycle, crosses the border everyday. Custom officers regularly check the bags, and all the time, they contain sand. It is obvious that this man is smuggling something, but the officers can’t realize what it is. As they have no proof, the man always crosses the border without interruptions. What does he smuggle?

Answer: This creative individual distracts the custom officers with the bags of sand. But in fact, he smuggles bicycles.

  1. Suicide message.
    A body of a man was found on the floor. At some moment, he collapsed against his desk. A gun is in his hand. The police found a cassette recorder in his hand. When they pressed the button, what they heard was, “I cant live like this anymore”. Then the sound of a gunshot was heard. However, the detective immediately figured out it was a murder. How did he realize that it wasn’t a suicide? Surely you know the answer.

Answer: If the man hand killed himself, he by no means would have been able to rewind the tape. Conclusion : It was someone else who forced him into saying those words.

  1. Crime scene.
    A man killed his wife in a car. He used a knife which he later threw away into an abyss where nobody was going to find it. His wife’s body he took out of the car. He was very careful and therefore left no fingerprints. After that, he headed home, and in acouple of hours, he got a call from the police. They informed him that his wife had been killed and so he had to arrive at the crime scene right away. As soon as he got there, he was arrested for the murder. How did the police realize he was guilty? You must get this right.

Answer: The husband wasn’t informed of the definite location of the crime scene. Despite that, he came to the right place.
